SW:TOR Bio/Story Intro rewiritten
Monday, February 16th, 2009Because of the Threat of Peace comic establishing a 10-year gap betwee nthe Sacking of Coruscant and the start of the Star Wars: The OId Republic game, I have had to rewrite my Bio/Story for my characters. I left the old version up as I preferred it, but this version fits the canon.
Install Windows 7 BETA from USB Memory Stick

This simple tutorial allows you to copy Windows 7 BETA onto a bootable USB stick and install it from USB. Really handy if, like me, you run a notebook with no DVD drive.
My HP 2133 Mini-note is currently in the process of happily installing Windows 7 BETA.
Ubuntu weird keyboard issue
Thursday, February 12th, 2009Just wanted to mention that I had a weird issue on my HP 2133 Mini-note with Ubuntu 8.10 locking the numeric keypad (which uses the Fn key and part of the main keyboard) in numeric mode. I found out it’s an easy fix, just press Fn + NumLock.
Apparently it happens on most laptop keyboards.
Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid – Empty ‘Add/Remove…’ list
Monday, February 2nd, 2009Had a weird old problem with Ubuntu this morning. I opened the ‘Add/Remove…’ application to install Wine and Flickr Uploader only to be presented with a blank page. No applications listed, not even those that were installed.
After a lot of swearing and a quick Google I found the solution:
Enter the terminal (at your own risk) and enter:
sudo apt-get --reinstall install gnome-app-install
You’ll need to enter the password for your account and have permission to run stuff as root, but it’ll sit and re-install the package. When it’s all done it’ll drop you back to the prompt. Mine worked just fine after that.
A word
Monday, February 2nd, 2009I’ve been trying to remember the German word for ‘workshy’. I found it, it’s ‘arbeitsscheu’.
Why was I looking for this? Well it relates back to Sachsenhausen concentration camp. One of it’s first major influxes was the ‘workshy’ and ‘asocial’ from Berlin. I couldn’t remember what the Nazi’s referred to the people as.
