Somehow it feels like forced diversification on the bands part, almost like they thought they had to do something different. Cardboard sleeve? Did you get the CD version? If so it could have been one of these Digipack things which I heard of (supposed to be 'greener' than a plastic case I think). I got the LP version and that came in a very big cardboard sleeve. In fact the LP came in a card sleeve rather than paper) which was then placed into the main card sleeve along with a few photographs. I got the album as well and liked it.
